(US) Factory Engraved and Gold Inlaid Colt New Pocket

$10,000.00

Near mint with original box. Engraved, inlaid and inscribed. S/N 16091 -(Which by the way, reads the same upside down and rightside up, so there's that.)  Fading blue on backstrap, otherwise finish is very strong. Light speckling on side of hammer. 3.5" bbl, consignor stated this was a presentation gun to a Police Chief, but I haven't been able to verify that through any of my research. Inscription reads "Presented to M.C. Foley by his friends on April 12 1901." Box is tattered with edges having been removed but the two seperated box lips are remaining. I haven't ordered a Colt Factory letter for this yet, but certainly can for the buyer with his/her name on it if they so desire. This is certainly a factory engraved revolver by evidence of the engraving itself and the box serial numbered to the gun. A very rare and exquisite piece, and in wonderful condition. I found an excact New Pocket listed for sale by Rock Island Auction Company in 2003, only in lesser condition and without the original box. UPDATE: According to Colt historian Beverly Haynes, the records show the pearl grips and the inscription, but no mention of the engraving or the gold inlay. With the retention of the original box marked "engraved" and the inspection of other Colt New Pockets we can clearly say without hesitancy that this is in fact a Colt factory gold inlaid and engraved gun.
